Sloan Film Summit 2014
The Sloan Film Summit with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation was held on November 14-16 in downtown Los Angeles. The Summit is a celebration for the nationwide Sloan Film Program which also has funded the many works of upcoming filmmakers, writers, producers, and much more. This year it brought together 150 screenwriter, directors, and producers, as well as representatives from leading film schools and film organizations, who work to bridge the gap between science and popular culture. This year's summit had the theme of Science incorporated into the pop culture of the industry. With movies like Interstellar, Theory of Everything, and Big Hero 6, science had become a big part of the industry.

The three day event kicked it off with the screening of Theory of Everything with actress Felicity Jones, Producer Laura Bruce and actor Eddie Redmayne who attended the screening.

The Sloan also had grantees share their independent films and their production progress. This was a time for the independent filmmakers to get to meet people who also have been through making their owns films on a short budget.
The Sloan foundation Organizational participants ranged from the American Film Institute, to Sundance, Tribeca, Film Independent, and more.
On Sunday, the Summit was opened to an event titled Science and The Art of Storytelling. The Keynote speaker was by sloan-supported playwright and screenwriter Beau Willimon (House of Cards, The Ides of March), a shorts program, staged readings, and a sneak peek of soon to be released Sloan films.
